A Sweet Surprise

Dan's Mom surprised us today with loads of yummy treats for the boys!  The boys enjoyed the impromptu party following study hall tonight and were all very appreciative of the snacks!  Thanks Regina!

Good food, good friends, and a good Celtics game on TV...doesn't get much better than this!
We got about 6 inches of snow today, but it looks like there is some warmer weather on the horizon!  Hopefully the snow will melt soon so these guys can enjoy their spring sports!

Happy Birthday, Will!

Another birthday boy in Johnson...Will Dwyer turned 15 today!  Happy Birthday, Will!

Will's parents ordered some homemade frosted brownies from Alex Southworth and according to the boys (and Scott!), they were delicious!  Here are a few pics of the evening...

Happy Birthday, Jerry!

Today was Jerry's 15th Birthday and his parents helped organize a little party for him.  The boys enjoyed cake and ice cream and had fun sharing stories of their time on Project Period.  Actually, much of the conversation was focused around the internet youtube sensation, Rebecca Black, and her song, Friday which has almost 50 million hits!  It's fun having the boys back, although about half of our dorm is home for the weekend and missed out on the celebration!  I'm SURE there will be more reasons to celebrate with treats throughout the spring term!
Happy Birthday, Jerry!!!!
Alec was trying to balance a spoon on his nose - he wasn't very successful!
Jerry and Wallace (a new member of our dorm this term, although he did live in Johnson last year too!)

Thank you ALL for a wonderful winter term full of delicious treats for our boys!  I apologize for not posting pictures more often, but please know that ALL of us in Johnson House are so grateful for the time, energy and funds that all of you have contributed to our dorm.  The boys really do love it and we are the envy of campus!
Here are some pictures of our superbowl party, some pizza parties and a recent lasagna dinner!  Yummy!
See you in the spring!  :)

We've had a great couple of weeks in Johnson House!  Sam's parents provided lots of delicious food last weekend in celebration of Sam's birthday!  We enjoyed handmade cinnamon rolls on Sunday morning and a huge spread on Sunday afternoon, including a baked ham!  The boys enjoyed eating and watching football together (even though the Patriots lost!).
On Tuesday we enjoyed chocolate cake for Sam's birthday!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!
Tonight we had fun eating a couple of King Cakes sent to us from Jerry's family in New Orleans.  Jerry's dad, Jon, explains this fun tradition saying, "If you are not familiar with New Orleans culture (we weren’t when we moved here 7 years ago), you will perhaps be surprised that Mardi Gras season begins every year on January 6 and extends until the day before Ash Wednesday.  One of the best traditions of the season is the King Cake.  The cake itself is ordinary – just a pastry ring with drizzled purple, green, and gold sugar on top.  Some have fillings (like cream cheese and raspberry sauce).  Each baker does them differently, and some are way better than others.  King Cakes can be provided to a group at any time of the day or night.  The thing is, there is a little plastic baby hidden inside, and if you get the baby, you have to throw the next party – or at least buy the next king cake."
The boys were excited and we decided that whoever got the baby in their piece of cake didn't have to do dorm jobs this week!
Nick was the lucky winner of BOTH babies...he had one slice of each type of cake we had and ended up with the baby in both slices!  He was a happy guy!
Nick's second baby in his cake...
I attempted to get a good picture of Richard and Jerry...it took a few tries...
Try #1 - "Look at ME, Jerry!"
Try #2 - "Open your eyes, Jerry!"
Try #3 - "Yay Jerry!  Awww.....RICHARD!!!"  (Sometimes it's hard to get good pictures of high school boys...but I'll keep trying!)
 Yum!
Eric was on duty tonight and enjoyed the festivities!
Scott bet Jack he wouldn't eat a huge chunk of cream cheese filling from the inside of the cake, but Jack stepped up to the plate and proved Scott wrong...he almost spit it out, but ended up eating the whole thing!  No dorm jobs for him next week either!  Go Jack!
Thanks for everything!  We truly have the best parents around!  :)
Have a wonderful long weekend with your boys!
